From July-August 2023, Nemo Nonnenmacher has been a guest at Villa Reinherz as part of the ‘neu gedacht’ Art Scholarship by the Antonie-Zauner Foundation as one of six selected artists for 2023.

The artists stayed at Villa Reinherz for several weeks each between June and December 2023 for a work residency. During their stay, they took the opportunity to get to know the landscape and the region, where the Expressionists Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky already found diverse inspiration for their art.

During his two-month stay, Nemo Nonnenmacher engaged with the alpine landscape, the interaction between technology and nature, as well as the connection between inner and outer emotional worlds. He has been developing works that explore new technologies (eg. 3D scanning and laser cutting), as well as the materials and characteristics of the Bavarian region around Murnau am Staffelsee

‘These works are a direct continuation as well as a juxtaposition to the material works I have made in Cyprus in 2022. They draw inspiration from the flora and fauna of the alpine landscape, the lush and saturated environment of the ‘Moos’ – the biggest European wet environment – and the more conservative context of the Bavarian Culture.’
