Virtual simulation, screen-based installation with sculpture

sensor-driven VR/XR environment, AI-driven narrative

This interactive virtual environment presents a fully simulated natural biome — a living, responsive landscape shaped in real time by live data streams, AI processes, and viewer interaction. Developed during a residency in Bavaria, the project extends beyond the virtual: sculptural and screen-based installation elements bring the world into the physical exhibition space, creating a dialogue between code, object, and presence.

At the core of the simulation is a system of interdependent lifeforms and processes. Plants and animals emerge, grow, and decline within their own logic, guided by growth cycles, population dynamics, and seasonal shifts. Day and night alternate, atmospheric changes unfold, and entire ecological networks evolve in response to both internal systems and external triggers. Online data — such as weather, temperature, or biodiversity indexes — blends with physical sensor input from the exhibition space, so that visitors themselves become part of the biome’s ongoing transformation.

Rather than positioning the viewer as a passive observer, the work invites embodied exploration. The virtual world reacts to movement, presence, and proximity, altering animations and behaviours based on how the space is navigated. These interactions shape a unique narrative for each encounter, blurring the boundary between controlled environment and emergent system.

By combining speculative ecology, procedural simulation, and AI-driven responsiveness, the piece becomes a space for rethinking how we engage with digital nature. It extends the themes of the artist’s wider practice — the tension between machine logic and human experience, the thin line between simulation and sensation — and proposes a new role for virtual spaces: not as imitations of nature, but as dynamic systems that reflect our shifting relationship with it.
